SKT, KT to showcase AI, UAM, 6G at Mobile World Congress

SK Telecom and KT will showcase emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), urban air mobility (UAM), 6G and metaverse at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC), the mobile communication industry's annual trade show, the companies said Monday.

This year's MWC event, taking place in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 27 to March 2, will deal with five themes including 5G, fintech, OpenNet, cloud and digital everything featuring around 1,900 companies from 160 countries.

SK Telecom said it will focus on promoting its AI technologies and use emerging computing technologies to diversify its business portfolio.

Its AI technologies and services are called "A.," which is pronounced as "A dot" and includes AI technology applied to robotics, security, media and healthcare, an AI chip called Sapeon and an AI-powered solution for transportation called LITMUS.

Not only AI services but also other businesses, such as UAM, will be presented at SKT's booth. The company said visitors to its booth can experience a simulator of its UAM service, which will be realized in the near future.

"Including reservation and ticketing of the air mobility service, visitors will be able to feel the future transportation experience," the company said.

KT will also promote its digital transformation vision at the MWC.
