Lotte, Busan agree to cooperate in hosting World Expo 2030

Lotte signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Busan Metropolitan City to help the city win its bid to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan, according to the company, Wednesday.

Lotte will use its infrastructure to support preparations for on-site due diligence by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which is scheduled for April 3 to 7. In order to attract public interest and support for hosting the Busan Expo, various promotional activities will be carried out in Busan and Seoul.

Lotte will provide rooms at its Signiel Busan as lodgings for the BIE's inspection team while they stay in Busan. Signiel Busan is a 260-room luxury hotel located in Haeundae's landmark LCT tower, and is expected to showcase Korea's advanced infrastructure.

Around 700 Lotte affiliates in Busan, including Signiel Busan and Lotte Department Store, plans to display banners that read "BUSAN IS READY!" along with the Busan Expo 2030 emblem, while 10,000 Lotte employees working in Busan will also wear badges with the emblem.
