Ex-football Coach Kicks Goals for Award

Erich Rutemoeller, former chief of education of the German Football Association, has been nominated for "German Football Ambassador 2016," the German Embassy said.

The nomination ceremony was at the National Football Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, on Dec. 8. Roland Bischof, founder of the initiative, presented a certificate to Rutemoeller, who is one of three award nominees. Former Korean football player Hwang Bo-kwan and Markus Hatzelmann, first secretary of the German Embassy, attended.

"I am very pleased that the nomination also recognizes the work of coaches who are out of the spotlight," the German coach, who was a player in Iran and Afghanistan, said.
