9 Mercedes-benz Models Face Recalls

Nine Mercedes-Benz vehicle models, including the popular E200 mid-size sedan, face recalls for faulty airbags. A total of 1,069 cars have been found to be affected.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Thursday, affected vehicles were equipped with an Autoliv airbag that was found not to operate properly in accidents.

Last year, the German luxury carmaker also recalled 841,000 vehicles in the United States for an airbag defect. Those Mercedes-Benz vehicles with Japanese Takata airbags were found to propel shrapnel at passengers when engaged during collisions.

Separate from those Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the airbag issue, two Mercedes-Benz vehicles _ one C200 small sedan and one E220d sedan _ were found to have a defect in their steering wheels.

Mercedes-Benz Korea said it will offer a free repair service for affected vehicles at any service center across the country from June 9.
